$5000 for home repairs in the 8th ward!

By Cara | September 24, 2009

h/t to Kraig Schnitzmeier, the exec director at St. Margaret’s Housing Corp., for the info.

The Grand Oak Hill Home Repair Program offers a $5,000 forgivable loan that pays for repairs involving health, safety, and code violation issues. Eligible repairs include electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, roofing, tuckpointing, concrete, and sewer work. The loan acts as a lien on the property, and 20% of the loan amount is forgiven for each year the homeowner remains in the home. After five years the entire loan amount is forgiven.

Loan approval is based on income and the number of persons in the household. The homeowner also has to be current on city real estate taxes and MSD sewer bills, and provide proof of homeowner’s insurance.

For more information, or to apply for a Home Repair Program loan, call the Housing Program Director at (314) 865-5530 extension 108.

The link you provided is to something with a “.pub” extension. Do you have any idea what that is and how one could get it to a more normal file format?
